LIONS RECYCLE FOR SIGHT
Sugarloaf Lions volunteers coordinate the collection of used pairs of spectacles from local opticians, churches, golf clubs, schools etc. We distribute and collect branded boxes for safe collection of the spectacles. We are one of many Lions clubs in Ireland taking part in this endeavour.
Lions of District 133 Ireland collect and recycle tens of thousands of spectacles each year for distribution to the Third World. The lenses are most important and if the frames are intact that is an added bonus. Spectacle cases in good condition are very welcome.
Spectacles collected by the Lions Clubs of District 133 Ireland are transported to Medico Lions Clubs de France in Le Havre for sorting and grading before shipping to third world countries.
Sugarloaf Lions collects and sends to France approx 350 pairs of spectacles every 2 months.
If you have some unwanted old spectacles we can arrange collection OR if you could take a box into your office, sports club or other venue for a couple of weeks please contact us and we can make arrangements.
